Day 9 – Even more cupcakes?

I returned home to find a tray full of beautifully iced and decorated cupcakes sitting on the kitchen benchtop.

Needless to say, I alternated from immediate delight, to intrigue, to dismay, to curiosity and finally, to salivating.

My initial delight turned to wondering who made the cakes and for what purpose. Then dismay set in when I wondered if it was meant for someone else. This was followed by sheer curiosity as to what it all meant but at the same time, I couldn’t wait to try one of these delicious-looking cupcakes.

I searched the house to find out about these mysterious but tempting delights. Imagine my beaming face when I was told that they were meant for all of us. A friend had made them for her daughter’s birthday party and had set aside a tray full for us.

I can candidly admit that I would have been sorely disappointed if the cupcakes weren’t for us. I give thanks for our family friend for thinking of us and sending the tray of cakes over.

Day 7 – Cupcake heaven

A girlfriend and I had planned to meet up for coffee yesterday. I had told her I could only meet her around 3 pm and all she stipulated was that we meet at the local garden nursery.

She texted in the morning and asked if we could have coffee at her place instead, as she was reluctant to go out with the possibility of rain. I had been looking forward to browsing through the nursery myself but to sweeten the deal, she offered to make cupcakes.

My girlfriend is an excellent cook so I did not need much persuading. I was however blown away by her cakes, especially the butterfly cakes with crème fraiche. Yummm! Needless to say, they were delicious and to prove it, I took a photo.

My advice is to cultivate friends who can cook butterfly cupcakes.

All jokes aside, I give thanks for friends who want to have coffee with me and who are fully prepared to set aside time to cook for their cake-deprived pals.

While it sounds as though I am always out drinking coffee with friends, I assure you, it is not as often as we would wish. Friends are precious and it is imperative that we care for and support each other and coffee time, is one way of keeping in touch and showing that we care.

How do you spend time with good friends? I would love to hear from you.

Day 6 – Tackling Tasks

This may sound bizarre but I had a great day tackling tasks that sit on the back burner and only get attention when we have the time.

I put a few of my favourite CDs on and enthusiastically got going. Don’t get me wrong, I still have a mountain of tasks but it gave me great satisfaction to tick some of them off the list. It was also delightful to see my handiwork after labouring for hours.

I also enjoyed the fact that I did not need to rush out for appointments or necessary groceries or gifts or so many other reasons. It was simply wonderful to have time to devote myself fully to the tasks at hand and WITHOUT interruption. That’s my gratitude for the day. Yay!

When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself. ~ Tecumseh

I’m still in a glow over the tasks I completed. Have you got a similar story to relate? I would love to hear it.
